The 99 City Road Conference Centre team have now been working at home for several weeks. While the UK begins to emerge from lockdown, our team will continue to work at home until we are ready to reopen for events.
In our latest working from diary, sales executive, Jake Orme, gives an update on how he has found that last few weeks and why the situation is changing his working practices.
“I’ve had a busy few weeks since the conference centre closed. At the outset I was working with clients to re-book their upcoming events and making contact with our regular customers to make sure they were aware of our availability.
“Since then, I have been keeping open lines of communication with clients and reassuring them that we are here and working hard to introduce new measures when events are allowed to happen again. I have also been working closely with our procurement team to ensure we offer clarity in our terms and conditions in scenarios like this.
“It has been really reassuring that enquiries are picking up again over the last couple of weeks. Most of these enquiries are for September onwards which I think shows a trend that many event professionals feel that September is a realistic target to start meeting again, even if it will look slightly different than it did before.
“Many clients who had events booked between March and August this year have now either rebooked or reserved dates between September and December. Interest in these dates is increasing week by week so we would encourage anyone looking to either re-book or hold an event in the last quarter of the year to get in touch soon.
“On a personal level, I have adapted well to working at home although I do miss the energy of being at 99 City Road. I’m working more independently now as the team aren’t physically around me to bounce ideas off. I’m also planning my week out to help with my motivation and this has also improved my organisational skills – something I plan to bring back to the office when we return.”
