The 99 City Road Team have been working at home for over a month now as the UK lockdown and social distancing continues. While the conference centre remains closed for events, the team are currently looking ahead to the near future and planning for reopening.
Our marketing and sales executive Mariya Hristova, shares her experiences of working from home.
“My main focus at the moment is developing a plan for action and identifying policies and procedures that need to be in place for post-COVID-19 re-opening. Liaising closely with industry experts and consulting government guidance we recognise the need to adapt and to ensure the safety of our customers and guests.
“I have been keeping regular contact with clients and partners. Ensuring more favourable contractual agreements reflecting the current uncertainty, as well as helping them reschedule their events. In the first couple of weeks, there was a flurry of activity with clients checking on new dates to reschedule their events. Now I’m finding that companies are entering the next stage, planning their post lockdown policies and procedures for hosting events. It’s really important that we understand these policies and collaborate with clients as much as possible, so that we are prepared and ready to act as soon as we can.
“In many ways, there are certain parts of my job that have remained the same since the lockdown began, from liaising with clients and industry experts through to reviewing our marketing activities. The only part that has changed is that I’m now working from one location.
“The main downside to working from home is that I miss the team spirit that exists in the office. I know that we’re all working towards the same goal and while we keep in contact with the team it’s not the same as seeing people face to face.
“On the flip side, working from home has given me more free time as I’m no longer commuting. I use this time to catch up friends, check in with my loved ones and work out regularly.
“To boost my productivity, I have kept my work-space free from distracting gadgets and I am keeping positivity levels high while planning my post COVID-19 trip to Japan. This allows me to focus on my work and has helped to improve my results. I would recommend that all home-based employees try and tailor their space to bring out their most productive side.”
