Our team has now been working from home for more than two weeks since social distancing and the nationwide lockdown came into force. While the team is missing the atmosphere within our busy London conference centre, they are adjusting to working from home and adapting their working style.

Our event coordinator, Gracia Kabongo, who joined the team in January this year, tells us what she’s been focussing on over the last couple of weeks.

“I’m used to delivering several events each week and keeping my step count up while running around the conference centre so it’s been quite an adjustment to be working from home. I have mainly been catching up with admin work and preparing for when we are able to return to the conference centre to host events.

“The event industry has been hit particularly hard in the midst of the current pandemic but we’re all pulling together and showing our solidarity. I have found lots of online support and conversations with other event professionals who are going through the same thing. Although we’re all apart at the moment, we’re all in this together and plan to come out of this much stronger.

“I know that some people are struggling to cope with being confined but I’ve found that keeping busy and sticking to a routine really helps. I would suggest doing some exercise each day, even if it’s just for ten minutes. It’s good for the body but also for the mind which is really important right now. You could also take the opportunity to do a deep spring clean – there’s never been a better time. I’m trying to learn new things and upskill while at home. There are so many online resources to help people pick up a new hobby. I’ve been making Puff Puff, which are African Donuts, and they were delicious!

“As much as I’m using this time wisely, I’m missing the fantastic team at 99 City Road and I can’t wait to get back delivering successful events and working with clients to exceed their expectations.”

If you’re looking to re-organise your next event then we are re-booking events at 99 City Road Conference Centre from September onwards. If you would like to book your next event or rearrange an event with us then please contact Jake Orme via email Jake.Orme@inmarsat.com
